Enjoy music from a variety of genres while enjoying foods from local vendors.
About WTIP’s Radio Waves Music Festival
With music on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, this family-friendly event is a great way to take in some local music in a beautiful setting. The first festival was held in 2008 to celebrate WTIP Community Radio’s 10th anniversary. It has since become an annual tradition. In 2020 and 2021, the festival was held on air, rather than in-person, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival will return to being an in-person event in 2022.
Each year, Sweetheart’s Bluff in Grand Marais will come alive with music starting on Friday afternoon. There is usually handful of performances going into Friday night. The music starts up again on Saturday morning. Another dozen or so acts will take the stage with 50-minute performances highlighting a variety of music genres. Music on Saturday concludes around 10 PM before picking up again on Sunday morning with a few final acts to conclude the festival.
Music acts range from soul to country to hip-hop. Whatever your music tastes, WTIP’s Radio Waves Music Festival is a great way to discover new artists and enjoy a set from an old favorite. Most years the festival includes both returning artists and new artists.
Family-Friendly Event
Bring the whole family down to Sweethearts Bluff for this family-friendly event. There is a lot of space for kids to run around and dance. Bring a chair and sit close to the stage, or bring a blanket and spread out on the hill above the stage. Grab a bite to eat from a local vendor, and just enjoy the day outside listening to some great music. Well-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome, too!
