About Agate Bay

Agate Bay, a stunning property on the shores of Lake Superior, offers the seclusion of the North Shore with close proximity to the lively community of Grand Marais, Minnesota. Featuring three spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms, Agate Bay is only one mile from the heart of the most dynamic town on the North Shore. And in case you were wondering, we call this home Agate Bay because it comes with access to a private cobblestone beach, a known area by hunters of the elusive Lake Superior Agate.

And while a private beach is one feature, it is just the beginning. The home features a large living area on the main floor, including a kitchen with all the accessories you’ll need to prepare a homemade meal. The many rivers and lakes nearby are full of walleye, trout, and other coveted North Woods fish, meaning you’ll have ample opportunities to prepare a fresh fish fry right on the property. A spacious dining room and sun-filled lounge area offer outstanding views of Lake Superior. In addition, a large deck located off the lounge area and master bedroom is perfectly situated for views of evening sunsets over the Big Lake.

The recently renovated lower level of the home includes a family room, game table, and a supplemental kitchenette. As the world’s largest freshwater lake is known to spark the creative spirit, a magnificent art area with a focus on the younger generations is nestled on the lower level. Also found on the lower level is arguably the greatest dart room in the state of Minnesota. With the feel of a natural cave, this dart room takes the gaming experience to a new level!

This Home is Pet Friendly! Pets are welcome in this home with an additional fee. There is a 2 pet maximum.

Shoreline Note: The photos for this property were taken in the summer months when Lake Superior's water level is low. During the winter and spring months, when water levels are higher, the size of the accessible beach area will be smaller. We cannot predict exactly when water levels will be highest or lowest, but typically mid-summer will have the lowest levels. The Lake Superior shoreline is not public, it is private. Only the area directly in front of the home is accessible to our guests. The property lines are marked.

Situated perfectly on the quiet reaches of city limits, Agate Bay is only a half-mile from a full grocery store and locally-owned restaurants. Just down Highway 61 is the picturesque Grand Marais Harbor and iconic Artist’s Point. In addition, the downtown area features numerous restaurants, shops, and other destinations that are all locally owned and operated. Agate Bay is also the perfect starting point to access the Gunflint Trail and numerous state parks boasting the state’s most stunning waterfalls.
